Missing toolbars in Word 2000

I've tried the suggestions regarding repairing the registry yet I'm not
having any luck getting Word to run properly. It works fine under the
command prompt with the /a however after modifying the registry and clicking
the icon it still starts up without the toolbars.

a 2nd point. I'm using XP with 2 accounts. The other account has zero
problems with the toolbars, whatever that's worth.

I hope someone has a suggestion - this is frustrating to no end.

If the menu bar and toolbars are missing then the problem lies in the
Word\Data key in the Registry, specifically the Toolbars value. It
could be you have an instance of Word still running and the Reg keys
are being recreated with the corrupt settings.

Restart your computer and check the Task Manager and verify there are
no instances of Winword.exe running. Then try renaming the Data key
again.

Now, if you see your menu bar then it could be that the toolbars have
been turned off. Go to View/Toolbars and turn on the Standard and
Formatting toolbars.
