Hey Everyone,

I just picked up a copy of Microsoft Office 2008 from my school and it installed it over the weekend. I was discouraged to discover that I have absolutely no Add-ins in the Excel program and I need the Data Analysis add-in for my Finance class.

I read that the only way to fix this is to install 2004, which I don't have, but are there any alternative programs I can use to have the Data Analysis tool(s) installed either in my 2008 Excel or a different Stats/Data Analysis program for free?

Thanks!

Hmm.... It was announced more than two years ago that Office08 would not
have any automation other than AppleScript. Sorry you didn't get the
news...

The wizards that are missing (all the *functions* in the ATP were
incorporated into XL08) are not available in any form for XL08 that I
know of.

However, with only a very few exceptions (e.g., the ATP had a random
number generator that was actually LESS random than XL's built-in RNG),
the wizards simply automated the implementation of built-in functions.
You can get workbooks that have equivalent (or better) implementation of
those functions can be found here:

As for other applications, there are many other statistical and data
analysis packages out there, but I'm not familiar with any free ones
that are worth the time to download.
