I have tried to install both Microsoft Office, Home and Student 2007
and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with BCM on my computer, and get
virtually the same error message with each:
[product name] encountered and error during setup
This occurs after I have accepted the license, entered my product key,
specified which components to load, etc. It then goes to the window
indicating "Installing [product name]", with the progress bar for
about one minute, then this message. It's almost as if it is having
problem reading the registry or unpacking the files.
Some information that might be relevant:
Full retail legal copies of both.
I had a trial version of office 2007 last spring. I forgot about that,
and reloaded the trial a couple of weeks ago, but got this same
message. My thought at the time was "oh, yeah, I did this before. It
probably kept record of that and won't let me have a second trial."
I have a copy of outlook 2003 with an oem license on another computer
that I was using as a trial on this computer. I am trying to replace
that one with a properly licensed updated one without losing the data
that is there.
My standard office suite is Open Office; the reason for buying MS
office is to run some macros in legacy files. As far as I got, the
installation didn't ask about making these products defaults for their
extensions, but I figure I can change that later if need be.
I have MS office Publisher 2007 trial (expired) still on my computer
I have MS Office 2003 Visio Viewer on my computer.
Windows XP pro SP2
Thanks for any help or suggestions. I am backing up my computer as I
type this, and plan to uninstall the 2003 outlook to see if that makes
a difference.
