I and many of my co-workers have Groove Vitual Office Professional Edtion
v3.1a, and we recently have setup a SharePoint site as well. So I wanted to
create a Workspace in Groove using the Custom Template 'Mobile Workspace for
SharePoint' so I can use the content from the Sharepoint site offline but
when go through the steps I get the following error 'ERROR: windows
sharepoint services 2.0 sites older than beta2 are not supported
The Web server found the site you entered but cannot make the connection
because it is not a valid SharePoint site.
Please pres Back button and try re-entering the URL and authentication
information. If you're still having trouble connecting, see your SharePoint
site administrator' and can not complete. I am entering the correct URL.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The 'Groove Mobile Workspace' in GrvV3.1 is meant to work with WSSv2 and not
the current WSSv3.
Could you confirm the SharePoint site version that you are trying to connect
to?

The current Groove 2007 has a limited functionality with SharePoint site,
namely, the SharePoint Files tool. Also, see my recent blog posting regarding
Groove + SharePoint -

Yes, we have WSSv3 running on the instance my group uses. If we get Groove
2007 should it then work?

Yes, if you run WSSV3 and Groove2007, you will be able connect these 2
products. But with these new releases, the connection is not done with
the same approach. You do not have anymore a specific kind of workspace
(ie Mobile Workspace for SharePoint) to synchronise a full SharePoint
site with a Groove workspace. You will have a specific tool called
SharePoint files that you will be able to add in any workspace you choose.

There's some good points and some bad points with this new approach :

Good points:
- You do not need to decide while creating your workspace, if it will be
a "SharePoint connected" workspace. You can add the tool whenever you
want... (and you also can add several tools ponting to several
SharePoint lists in the same workspace)
- You can have a real check-in / check-out fonctionnality
- You can now reattribute the role to synchronise Groove and SharePoint
to any workspace manager (With the previous version, the workspace
creator had to do synchronisation without any possibility to transfer
this role)
- You can choose to share a full list, a directory or a file
(- You can programmaticaly add and parameter SharePoint files tool by
using Web Services API.)

Bad points:
- At this stage (but it will change with Office14), you are only able to
share Document Library Lists. Other lists are not covered anymore.
