Mocrosoft Word Problem

hi there~
im using a Mac, 1G RAM, laptop...
the mac version of Microsoft Word freezes or quits in random... then i
lose the info i ve typed in my docs...
i was handling 5 docs... lets say 5 doc windows open at the same time,
then suddenly it "quit" ("closed") and i lost a couple of hour-work.... i
had changed my option of "SAVE" from every 1 minute to every 10 minutes
due to another bug i found that consists on "closing"also if u handle a
huge doc during a long period of time... with the "every 1 minute"
preference..
so that was the previous experience that led me change the preference
option from every 1 to every 10 minutes...
but now i am again a victim of these bugs... i was working yesterday all
day long.... since the early morning til the following day at 3:00AM...
well... if anyone has an idea... or help... or suggestions... it ll be
welcomed~~!
i use a PowerBook 1Ghz, 1G RAM, Mac OS X 10.2.8

First - setting the AutoRecover time doesn't actually save the file. Get
used to typing CMD-s when you pause.

If you set AutoRecover to 10 minutes, did you not have the recovered
file open when you restarted? That should prevent losing a couple of
hours work. But again, SAVE.

Third, try the troubleshooting techniques here:

You'll have to hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different
browser (like Firefox).

If you work through the troubleshooting procedures at the URL that J.E.
cited, you should find whatever it is that's causing the conflict with Word.
No, it's not supposed to quit all of a sudden, but something's causing this
to happen and you need to find out what.

I've replaced the Save icon on my toolbar with the Save All icon (via Tools
| Customize), and gotten used to typing cmd-opt-S every time I pause, to
save all open documents. If you consistently use 5 at a time, you may want
to do that as well.
