modal window

hello,

is it possible to display a window which is modal for the system.
For instance, when I display the window for writing an email, the 2
actions possible for the user will be to send it or cancel it.
He won't be able to open another application( or window) or switch to
another one.

I tried with the display method but it allows the user to do other
things while creating a email.
