Moderating a discussion

Anthony

Are there any tools that will allow me to moderate cleanly a discussion
group set up in FP 2003? If not, can anyone recommend discussion
software that will allow easy access back to the main site after
commenting or posting? Simplicity is the key please as I'm not familiar
with html

Many thanks

Most discussion tools don't use HTML, they'd use server side scripting such
as ASP, CGI/Perl or PHP. Far more complex than you insist on, but those
scripts allow moderating of posts, blocking IPs etc.

Try www.phpbb.com
Try www.yabb-forum.com

Both above require Linux - phpbb.com runs with a MYSql DB, Yabb Forum uses
flat-text files for its database.

If your host has cPanel, phpbb may be offered as part of your hosting
account.

www.webwizguide.com has an ASP web forum which in my opinion is much easier
to set up than those above. Just a matter of uploading the files, and
perhaps changing a couple of config settings to point to the database and
you're done.

They probably take a bit of setting up, but the instructions are
comprehensive and easy to follow.

Of course there's a million others around, just do a Google search.

Unfortunately, otherwise, you might be stuck with the (very) basic FP forum
which doesn't allow for moderating or blocking undesirable
postings/posters - other than manually deleting the posts.
