Hi
I am using Windows desktop search and MDI files are not being indexed.
My understanding is that the iFilters for MDI and TIF come with MODI
(which I have installed). TIF files *are* being indexed but MDI are
not (not even the file name, let alone the OCR'd content).
I'm running Win XP, Office 2003 and (if memory serves as there does
not appear to be a way of checing) desktop search 3.1 (certainly when
I check for updates, no newer versions are found).
I have gone into Windows Desktop Search Options, gone to Advanced and
File Types and checked the MDI extension (Filter Description = MODI
Document Filter Class) and ensured that 'Index properties and file
contents' is selected. Note that Tif and Tiff are set to use the same
filter and work just fine.
I have then run indexing again and even left the machine overnight but
it will not find any MDI files either by their file name or their
content.
Any suggestions for what is wrong? As MODI is part of office I have
posted here as I did not see a group for Windows Desktop Search or
Microsoft Office Document Imaging.
Thanks
Paul
