Modification of Visio object in Word document

Hi,

I have word documents that contain imported Visio objects. I have both Word and Visio Installed on my PC.
When I try to do any kind of modification to the Visio object ( ie: adding a line etc), all my text formating gets out of wack. Is there a way around this?
