Modify data on web resource view

In the view resource assignments view on the web, is there a way to change
the content within a field on a particular task assignment? I have checked
the "Let resource update field" option in the Customize publish fields
dialog, however it only appears to make the field available for edit in the
"view my tasks" screen.

I am trying to add notes to other resource's task, and want to do this
easily across several users across all projects so they know a priority for
the week. I have tried using an unpublished master project, but it crashes
from time to time, making it not an ideal choice...

You cannot edit fields in the View resource assignments page. Sorry.
