We just deployed Office2007, which used a customized XML file and .MSP file,
etc. We did not modify the existing shortcuts as set up in the customization
tool. After th deployment, our users complained there were no desktop
shortcuts. So I am trying to change that. From what I have read, all I need
to do is run setup.exe /admin and just set the desktop shortcuts. I did
this, and did not modify anything else in the customzation tool. I then took
this MSP file and applied it to one of the machines and nothing happened.
However, if I run the file a second time, it correctly puts the shortcuts on
the desktop. This makes no sense to me, and I'd hate to set up an SMS
package that runs the same MSP twice.
Am I missing something here? Would I be better off taking the original .MSP
file used for the Office install, modifying that, and deploying that out to
existing installs? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
