modifying a resource cost in a baseline

Hello,
Is it possible in MS Project to go back and re-baseline the cost (hourly
rate) of a resource without re-baselining the duration of the tasks? We
entered a wrong cost for one resource in the original baseline, and we want
to fix that for our earned value calculations, but we don't want to have the
baseline duration of tasks to be changed to the current plan (which is what
always happens when baselining). Is it possible? if so, how?

Thanks,
Session

You will need to back out your progress and duration changes. Make your rate
change, then walk back through the progress again. Sorry.
You may want to attempt manually keying the revised resource cost, but that
is not going to total up for you unless you rebaseline.

Something to consider -- You might just want to add a one time adjustment
task and baseline that. The other option to consider would be to split the
project at "time now" and then make your rate change. After that you could
rebaseline the remaining work.

I don't know your exact circumstances with the baseline but there could be
some other options. This is what my company does every day, so let us know
if you need help. Of course all of us here is cyberspace will do what we can
for you in this forum.
