Modifying category via pds or other vba approach

I am using Project Server 2003 with Project Professional 2002. I have
managed to create a project successfully via the PDS. However, I also
need to add the newly created project to a category. Is there any way
to do this via one of the following, in descending order of
desirability?

1. Via an existing PDS call
2. Via a PDS extension
3. Using the project data model
