Modifying default document template

Dear experts,

I am trying to add a footer to the default document
template and do not know how to do it. How does one add a
footer to the default document template and change the
default font as well? Thanks.

But please heed the advise *not* to add a footer to Normal.dot. Create a
custom document template instead.

I apologize for posting this in two different places,
but did not know which would make more sense. Thanks for
the answer and I will not add a footer to Normal, but
create a Template. Thanks again.
