Modifying new Style set

R

Ruskinst

Please excuse me if I get the terminology wrong - I have just been given a PC
with WORD 2007 and no training.

I use a set of styles that relate to our corporate templates. I have opened
a document from a template and then used this document to add a new style set
to the Style Gallery. But when I apply this style set to a new document, the
styles that appear in the Quick access bar only include some of the styles in
the style set.

I went into managing styles to change the priorities but not all the styles
showed up. However I did find Body Text which I made a priority 1, but it
still does not show up in the Quick Access bar.

Can someone please advise how I modify the styles included in a new Style
Set, and then reflect these in the Quick Access bar?

Hi Ruskinst,

I'm not sure I'm following everything you're doing (although I think you're
doing well for someone with no training!), but...

You should see a checkbox in the "Modify Style" dialog box: Add to Quick Styles
list.

Does that help with this particular problem?

Hi Cindy,

No using the modify style button doesn't help.

I have a document that has approx 25 styles in it (its a standard corporate
template). I have opened the document and used it to add a new style set
(called R style set) to the style gallery, so I can use the "change styles"
button, then "style set" to apply the "R style set" to a new document.

However when I do this, the styles that appear in the Quick Access styles
section are not all of the styles from the "R style set" and there are some
added extras. I went into the managing styles section and changed the
priorities so that the main styles I use (eg. Body Text) where rated 1, but
Body Text still does not show up in the quick access bar.

What I would like to do is be able to open a document from my template (so I
know all the styles are there) or apply the "R style set" and then have the
styles displayed in the quick access bar - is this possible?

Thanks very much

No using the modify style button doesn't help.I'm not sure we're talking "on the same wave-length", here. There's a checkbox
in the Modify Style dialog box that needs to be activated in order to show a
style in the set of "Styles" in the Ribbon's Home tab. (This list is what I
know as "Quick styles".)

Can you be more specific about what you mean by "the style gallery"? And where
are you seeing the commands you mention above?

Is it possible you're using a 3rd party tool (an Add-in, perhaps) that those of
us who have Word "out of the box" don't have?
