Modifying Security Templates

When a security template is modified, should the changes made be pushed to
the groups and/or categories that are associated with it?

I have been playing with this feature. It appears that changes are NOT
pushed. Is this correct behavior?

Changes to security templates will not be pushed to the group/categories
that use them. When you apply a security template to a group/category, it
is a one time event and simply sets the permissions based on the template
settings at that moment in time.

Security template is just a feature that helps you stay consistent with
permissions by allowing you to re-apply the security templates in case the
security was accidentally changed or you were doing some testing and wanted
to revert back to the security settings you were sure about.
