I know I can modify a SharePoint Template but here is my problem:
1) We have a modified template in existence which contains project documents
which forms part of our standard project methodology such as: Study Phase,
Functional Requirements, and Technical Design etc.
2) I wanted to use this as a basis, create a new template which included 1)
above and also modify the issues so that we could add attributes and produce
different views etc for defect tracking in System Testing. I therefore:
a) Created a new site (New SharePoint Site Page)
b) Modified (customized) the template
c) Saved & Exported
d) Import and point to new site under site provisioning.
e) Checked under Sites & Services and see that my new template has both the
document template and my new issue template. Looks fine at this point!
f) Imported to the Server (to use as a template)
g) Ran stsadm exe
h) Under Site Provisioning Settings point to the new template
h) Checked under Sites & Services and see that my new template has both the
document template and my new issue template.
f) Create a new Project & Access it through Project Web Access. Now this is
where I get the problem as the document folders appear as per the standard MS
Project Template (not what I expected) although my issue changes are there.
What is I doing wrong or is it that when I modify a template it will always
resort back to the original i.e. my changes cannot be incremental?
