Modifying the RBS and the Impact

Hello All

The short: The MS Project Server administrator moved on to bigger an
better things. Our current project implementation was only in th
starting phases and I have taken on the responsibility of managin
the system. So I inherited the system

I got a very short introduction to the system by the former employe
and now I'm looking at adding a new business unit to the system

I open the Project Server and go t
Tools->Customize->Enterpris
Fields... I then click on [b:b1a4aab3e0]Custo
Outline Codes[/b:b1a4aab3e0] and click th
[b:b1a4aab3e0]Resource[/b:b1a4aab3e0] radio button. I scroll to th
bottom and then select [b:b1a4aab3e0]RBS[/b:b1a4aab3e0]. My option
from this point appear to be [b:b1a4aab3e0]View Cod
Mask[/b:b1a4aab3e0] and [b:b1a4aab3e0]View Looku
Table[/b:b1a4aab3e0]. I choose [b:b1a4aab3e0]View Looku
Table[/b:b1a4aab3e0]

From there, I cannot do anything. I can see the structure of th
business, but I cannot click on anything already defined, nor can
add additional items. All of the buttons on the top are disabled

So I figured, I must not be setup in the system properly with th
administrative rights. I opened up PWA and go to manage users an
check out my settings against the former employee's settings and w
match up in there. I'm set as an Administrator and Team Member

I also have a separate test server and I cannot modify the RBS ther
either, though all the settings check out same as above

Also, in my search of this forum I saw that someone mentioned that th
published projects will need to be re-published when the RBS i
modified. Since I'm not changing the associated RBS definition fo
any of the current resources, will my users need to re-publish thei
projects

Thanks in advance
Marti

Hello Martin.

Did you open the Enterprise global, before trying to change the RBS?

If not, you have to go to "Tools/Enterprise Options/Open Enterprise Global".
A file will open, which seems like an own project. This is the file, where
all global information is stored in. If it is open, go to
Tools->Customize->Enterprise Fields.
You should be able to edit the fields now.

I hope this will help you.

Sylvia
