money 2002-keeps installing itself

Help! I tried to remove some useless programs in my
windows xp to make some memory room.I clicked on "remove"
for money 2002.since then,my computer has been
continually trying to INSTALL money 2002.If I try to
cancel,it says I'm in the middle of an installation. If I
try to put it back,it says I'm in the middle of an
installation. This grey box is in the middle of my screen
and continually tries to install or reconfigure.I had a
pretty smart computer guy come over and try to delete the
money files, but the INSTALL keeps going. How can I get rid
of this???? It's very difficult to do anything on my
computer with this problem.I've tried to restore back to
an earlier date, but that failed too. Thank you for any
guidance you can give.

You have to find out where the "money" command is and
delete it. It might be in the
user\StartMenu\Programs\Startup group. It also might be
in the Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RUN
section of the the registry.

Just a start

Thanks but we've tried that. The box says "please wait
while microsoft configures money 2002"and keeps loading.

Hi Mary Ellen,

The MS Installer is the program that both installs and
removes the program. If you're cancelling the installer
while it configures then it won't have the chance to complete
the removal of the product.

If there has been some manual removal of files then it can
keep the installer from finishing the job as it will try to
repair the damage to be able to then remove it correctly.

You may want to post this in the MS Money newsgroup directly
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.money and include
the version of Windows you're using and the exact error message
you're getting as well. The version of Windows can affect
what tools are available for removing the software.
