monitor: task_for_pid failed

Every time I try to quit an Office 2004 app, I get these types of
errors in the Console:

2/26/08 12:01:47 AM [0x0-0x1ed1ed].com.microsoft.Excel[2561] monitor:
task_for_pid failed (os/kern) failure
2/26/08 12:01:52 AM [0x0-0x1ee1ee].com.microsoft.Word[2572] monitor:
task_for_pid failed (os/kern) failure

Once I hit cmd-Q, they sit there for about 45 seconds before dumping
with that error.

Tried repairing permissions, different user account -- to no avail.

OS X 10.5.2, Office 2004, Mac Mini G4.

What update version of Office 2004?

I get the same console message, but the apps quit immediately.

Excel is 11.3.7 and Word is 11.3.8.

Entourage (11.4.0) doesn't have this problem, and neither does Office
Notifications.

I'm surprised that this isn't a more widespread problem, my setup is
fairly vanilla...
