Monster headers

E

Ed Riddle

Greetings. 9/16/03
In a 100 page Word 97 doc my headers have extended
themselves so that the end of the header almost touches
the footer, which is a typical size. All my text is now in
headers in pages 5 through 100.

I am leery of trying to correct this problem. I do have
backups.

I need help.

Thank you

Not sure what the problem is, but try this:

1. Open your document, press Ctrl-A (to select all), then ctrl-C to copy it.

2. Switch to a new document. Ctrl-V to paste. Do you end up with all the
text from your original?

3. Press Ctrl-V

Whatever the problem is, this won't solve it. You need to copy all but the
last paragraph mark and paste that into a new doc (but if the document has
section breaks, these will need to be removed). See

The text is actually *in* the headers? This is very unlikely, since a header
would be the same on every page. Sometimes having vertical alignment set to
Centered instead of Top (Layout tab of Page Setup) can give the appearance
of expanding headers, but they don't usually have text in them. See

Possibly not, but it will at least determine if the problem is that the text
was entered (accidentally pasted) directly into the header.
