Monster Reminders window

I have several different .pst files displayed in Outlook 2007. Two days ago
I, apparently in error, used drag and drop to transfer a large number of
messages from one of those files to another. To my surprise, apparently as
a consequence of that, a calendar Reminder window appeared, showing not
events scheduled in the calendar, but messages. I clicked on the 'Dismiss'
button, and on the 'Dismiss all' button, but to no avail. Since then, this
Reminder window has reappared frequently and it has been growing. Yesterday
it had about 400 messages in it; now it has around 3,500. I'm not sure
what's wrong, nor what to do about it. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

Have you tried starting Outlook once with the /cleanreminders switch?

Thank you. Doing that has helped the situation. I was not aware that
reminders are used for flagged emails, as well as for calender events.
