Montecarlo, Asset allocation and Finance?

Does anybody know where are the Asset allocation features for Excel 2008?

I'm aware that I'm not able to make Montecarlo simulations. Does the Macros feature works?

Please note I'm not a software developer, I only know the basic.

I'm having a really hard time trying to make my thesis... I don't really know why I installed the Office 2008...

If you mean by Asset Allocation, the analysis tool Pack. It does not exist
in Excel 2008. But, all the functions in the ToolPack are included in Excel.

VBA macros do not work in Excel 2008, so add in packages for Monte Carlo
simulations will also not work. VBA is returning in the next version of
Office.

And, we certainly don't know why you installed Office 2008.

Thanks Bob

I don't understand what are you talking about the analysis Toolpack. I mean, I updated Office 2008 and now I have more financial stuff. But Asset allocation is a feature at Tools in any basic Office.

Next Office? OMG... Do you know if the iWorks has a similar feature?

I'm really upset about Office 2008 right now... I bought a mac because they didn't want to install Windows XP in the notebook, now they strike back again.

Any advice? I left the Office 2004 at home and I won't be there until next summer. i feel so lame right now...

I'm not sure I haven't uploaded the latest version of Open Office but
perhaps Open Office Might have the feature you need until you can get to
your copy of Office 2004.

Did you actually remove your old version (2004) from this machine.

Also if your current Mac is one of those new Fangled Intel Mac Its
possible to set up a section of your hard drive and with the use of a
helper program run the PC Version of Office on your Mac. Office 2007. It
hasn't removed the VBA and the features you want to add.

PabloU -

Solver can be used for asset allocation, and it appears on the Tools menu.
You can download Solver for Mac Excel 2008 at http://www.solver.com/mac

You can perform Monte Carlo simulation using Excel's RAND function, Excel
worksheet functions for inverse cumulative (e.g.,
NORMINV(RAND(),Mean,StDev)), and Data | Table to perform repeated
recalculations. There are numerous tutorials available on the web, e.g.,
http://excelmontecarlo.com/contents.html

Thanks Phillip and Mike...

The update has no what i was looking for..

Solver fixed one problem...

I already have a montecarlo model, i need a macro to make 1,000,000 "experiments"... sigh.

Just another and stupid question... Can i change the cmd+= (F9 for Office in windows)? cuz it's not working... May be it's the spanish keybord.

thanks
