More info about my outlook hang sometimes

Hello!

I use MS Outlook 2000 version 9.0.0.2814. The plattform I use is a
windows 2000 professional.

Sometimes quite often actually it hang when I click on the button
marked <send and receive> in Outlook 2000

I can always ping the POP3 server name from the Console.
If I ping the smtp server I get this message Svar från 217.27.160.65:
Målnätet är oåtkomligt.
but this is normal I think

I have tried both outlook express and now I use outlook 2000 and it's
the same problem with these two it hang. I have server timeout set to
5 minutes
When it hang it says connecting to server and then after some time I
get this message
below.
Here is the error message in Swedish
"En timeout inträffade vid kommunikation med servern. (Konto:Min
mail,POP3-server:
mail.uht.se, Felnummer:0x800ccc19)."

In English it says something like
A timeout has occurred when comminicating with the server.(Account
Min
mail,POP3-server:mail.uht.se, Error number: 0x800ccc19).

Some times I get this error message .
In Swedish
"Det gick inte att logga in på e-postservern. Ditt användarnamn eller
lösenord godtogs inte.
Serversvar: -ERR Logon failure: unknown user or bad password..(Konto:
Min mail.POP3-server:mail.uht.se, Felnummer 0x800ccc92).

In English something like
" You could not log in to the e-postserver. Your username or password
is not accepted.
Server answer: -ERR Logon failure: unknown user or bad password..
(Konto: My mail.POP3-
server:mail.uht.se, Errornumber 0x800ccc92)."

It's very annoying and irretating problem that I do want to get rid
of
as soon as possible.

Here is more info If I instead use another windows 2000 professional
which is located just
beside me it works all the time. On that computer it was outlook 5.

So my computer is causing a hang sometimes but the computer next to me
is working all the time. These two computers have identical settings
for the e-mail.

Does anyone have any suggestion what is causing this kind of strange
problem.

When I test I just sent the word test nothing more.

There is no such thing as Outlook 5, there is however Outlook Express 5
(which is old).
I would suspect that perhaps you have antivirus scanning incoming/outgoing
emails. This should not happen and should be disabled. It won't compromise
your security since your real time scanner would catch everything anyway.
Check your Outbox for any emails stuck there that are too large to go out.
Outlook doesn't have size limits on incoming/outgoing mail but your ISP or
Exchange server likely does.
Also recheck your settings for the SMTP server after contacting your ISP or
checking their website to doublecheck the correct settings. You might also
try creating a new identity, switch to it, then create the account as you
were originally instructed by your ISP. That will allow you to be sure that
the problem is not corruption in the registry for the identity involved.
