More than one cross functional flowchart in one page

Bertil

I would like to show more than one cross functional flowchart in one page,
showing how sub-processes relates to each other. When I try to paste
flowchart no 2 into a page where I already have flowchart no 1, Visio
automatically adds flowchart no2 to no 1. How can I avoid that?

I can of course paste no2 as an image, but then it is not possible to insert
connectors between activities in the different flowcharts.

When I try to ungroup a cross functional flowchart I get the error message
"Shape protection and/or Properties prevent complete execution of this
command". How can I avoid that?

Hi Bertil,

It looks like the code that's assisting this diagram type really locks
things down. It wouldn't even allow me group a set of lanes (to try and
encapsulate them...)

If there is a way to do what you need, it's probably pretty obscure. Anybody
else figure this out?!

Well, Chris, if you want obscure, I suppose you could try background pages?
Something like:

Place x-flowchart on Page 1

Mouse over bottom edge of page and ctrl drag to double height

Right click Page 1 tab and insert new (blank) page

Ensure Page 2 dims are same as Page 1

Place new x-flowchart on bottom of Page 2

Make Page 2 a background page (File/Page Setup/Page Properties)

Make Page 1's background Page 2 (as above)

This would give the correct layout and you could add connectors to the top
flowchart and 'position' their ends over the lower chart.

Not an great solution perhaps, as the bottoms of the connectors won't be
connected. I guess with a small amount of code and a custom connector
master you could have the connector ends track the shapes on the background
page.

Best regards

John

Perhaps the solution is to use the Off-Page Reference shape to create a link
to a new page (and vice-versa) ?

Thank you, I will try this allthough it might not be the easiest way of
making connectors and keep them updated.
