More than one Outlook running

I

Ian Francis

Hello all. I have this new annoying thing happening on my PC (Win XP Pro,
Office XP Pro) in that two sessions of Outlook seem to be running all the
time. Things that are happening are:
1) Send/Recieve button doesn't work, I always get an error back even though
the auto send and receive gets my mail every 5 minutes
2) Whenever new mail comes in I have two envelopes on the bottom right of my
screen indicating new e-mail
3) Whenever I shut down the PC, even though no programs are open, I get the
message to "shut down all applications first"

Does anyone know what I can do to stop this? It has been happening for
about 3 days (and several re-boots) and is growing quite tiresome.

Thanks in advance,

Ian Francis

Its unlikely that two sessions of OL are running 'all the time' its more
likely that having started OL then exited it is not closing completely, but
remaining as a running process. Consequently on restarting OL you will have
two processess.
If you have send/receive set to 5mins that is too short a time. Set to a
minimum of 10 mins, any less will cause problems.
Also failing to exit may be caused by OL addins, eg sync and fax software if
you have any ensure they are updated.
