More Trial Activation Problems

Well, now I didn't get the error message about the activation server being
down for maintenance.
So I asked it to activate my trial version of Office 2007 H&S. No error
message(s).
But Word still has almost all the options greyed out - just as before
activation. And I still can't type anything into the blank page of the new
document.
Strangely enough, Excel seems to be fully functional, or at least so far as
I've tried it to this point.
Does make me wonder if I would be able to activate a purchased version.

Did you have any Office app installed at anytime previously on this computer
