How seriously should I take the system requirement of
1024x768 monitor resolution for Office 2004? In
particular, will it work on a 800x600 monitor?

I have run it on a machine at 800x600 screen resolution. It seemed to work
adequately, in that all features worked, but there were some oddities with
pop-ups appearing out of place and cut-off text.
