Mouse buttons do not work in Word

For some reason, my mouse buttons have quit working in Word but only on the
text screen. They work on the menus and buttons. I use Vista and Word 2007.
They work in all other programs. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

This is an akward problem for which this solution worked for me

Close Word and Outlook
2. Start / Run and type regedit
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
4. Rename this key.
5. Restart Word

I just renamed it to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data2
