When attempting to click on individual cells, my mouse automiatically selects
5 cells at a time! What should I do to change this?

You may have accidentally pressed F8, look at the bottom right of the
status bar in excel you see the word "num" if you also see the word
"ext" then press F8 again and all will be well.

If not the F8 key as Simon suggests................

If Excel 2007, try setting the Zoom level a couple of points higher or
lower.

Especially if in Page Layout view.

But why only 5 cells?

F8 should select all cells that OP drags to.

Gord

Hit [F8]. It is an on/off toggle for "extending" the selected range.

Yes odd if its always 5 cells, could be some residual code in
personal.xls or in the worksheet_change event, i still find it
unreasonable that the cell count would always be 5.
