Mouse does not work within Word 2007 Documents

I have a Windows XP computer with Office 2007. The mouse does not work
within a Word 2007 document, but it works everywhere else.

I followed the Registry Edit instructions in KB 322756 to but it did not
help, even after a computer reboot. Is there something that has been
developed for Windows XP to address this issue?
