Mouse freezes in Word

When I hit the "Caps Lock" button in Word the mouse
freezes and I have to reboot.

Can anyone help ???????????????

Is it only the mouse that fails? Can you continue to edit the document and
save it using the keyboard commands? What type of mouse and connection is it
using? What versions of Office and OS are you using?
