Mouse inoperative in Word 2003 Document

Whenever I try to edit an existing Word document or open a new document my
mouse stops all functionality, No I-bar movement, no right click, no hilite
- nothing. This is only in the document area - menus and buttons work
normally. I can navigate in the document using the cursor keys without
problem. I've tried renaming all the normal.dot templates on the hard drive
to no avail. I tried re-installing Office 2003. I tried repair. Does
anyone have another suggestion?

Thanks.

Has anyone found a resolution to this problem I am having the same
problem. I have reinstalled Office 2003, Removed Mouse and Reinstalled
Device and Drivers, applied all current updates still same problem.
Does this with any document blank or existing document.

I was able to get around the problem by creating a new user profile and
copying all the personal files and email boxes to the new profile. That was
the only solution short of a complete reformat and re-install that I could
come up with. From another newsgroup on Experts Exchange I got a couple of
links that showed promise, but at least in my case didn't fix the problem. I
tried all the suggestions on the first link and the first couple on the
second. Here are the links if you want to try them:

Good Luck
