mouse not scrolling one way

Version: 2008 Processor: Intel In Word and on the Internet, I can scroll only one way with the button on the mouse. (Scrolling works when I hit the arrow on the side of the screen or the blue bar on the side of the screen, though. The problem is just with the mouse.)

Can I do anything, or must I buy a new mouse for $49.95 that doesn't have such great ratings on the Apple store Web site??

Thank you very much.

If the problem is happenng in other apps (such as your browser) it's a
pretty clear indication that the problem isn't anything that can be
attributed to or resolved through Word. You don't specify which OS version
you're using, but I'd suggest that you go to the Apple Downloads site,
retrieve & apply the latest COMBO update to see if that might resolve the
issue. Make sure to get the COMBO -- they're far more comprehensive in terms
of what they refresh.

You might also check Apples Support site to see if they have a specific
firmware/driver update that will correct the issue. I doubt you're the only
one experiencing it.

If you do have to replace it keep in mind that Apple doesn't make the only
Mac-compatible mouse on the planet. There are quite a few from Kensington,
Logitech... even Microsoft, as well as others that offer better performance
& more features -- usually at a better price.

Thanks. I called an Apple store and they suggested trying a different USB port, which I did. I also stuck my fingernail in by the scroll wheel in case there was a bit of dust or such.

It works now!
