Mouse scrolling stops functioning

P

Peter

I've searched the form and have found a significant number of reports of this
problem---all of them without answers.

Isn't it about time for someone knowledgeable (Microsoft?) to step in and
provide a resolution?

Let me summarize the problem. When I first start Word and open a document,
scrolling via the mouse's scroll wheel works just fine. Sometime later---in
response to a stimulus I have yet to identify---scrolling via the mouse's
scroll wheel no longer works. Extremely frustrating ...

I know what the problem isn't. It isn't a hardware problem, because mouse
wheel scrolling continues to work in numerous other applications. It isn't a
mouse configuration problem (for the same reason).

It's some kind of internal state problem with Word 2003, but what I don't
know.

Oh, yes, mouse wheel scrolling functionality can be restored by closing the
document and reopening it---restored temporarily, that is. I don't know about
you, but I don't consider this much of a workaround.

So, please, would someone from Microsoft please take up this matter?

Peter
