Mouse wheel flaky in OneNote

J

Jonathan Edwards

OneNote 2007 has some problem responding to mouse wheel events. It will
scroll intermittently only if I flick the wheel very fast. Normal wheel
motion is ignored. All other apps respond normally to the wheel. Using
Microsoft Intellimouse with latest version of Intellipoint on Vista.

AceWriter01

I have essentially the same problem, though NOTHING happens when I use the
wheel in OneNote 2007 under Vista (and IntelliPoint 6.10.152). Note that the
wheel works just fine when running OneNote 2007 under Windows XP SP2 and
IntelliPoint 5.x. Any help fixes would be welcome, as I've come to rely on
that little wheel....

Thanks!

I also have the same problem. Office OneNote 2007 with Windows Vista Home
Pro. My Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 scroll wheel doesn't work at all in
OneNote. This is certainly only a small problem, but it is a bit frustrating
as using the scroll wheel has become quite a habit.

The wheel works fine in Word 2007 (both horizontally and vertically). Works
fine in Excel and Outlook 2007 too.

Strange. I asked, because users regularly report problems with the wheel
in Word 2007 and MS mice using IntelliPoint. One suggestion you could
try is to remove the special mouse software/driver and let Vista use its
built-in for it.

I removed the Intellipoint software and now my scroll wheel works perfectly.

Frank,

Does your mouse have a Universal Scroll feature in the Intellipoint
software? If it does, you might be able to fix the problem with the
Intellipoint software if you reinstall it and switch that feature off.
That of course, if there is anything in the software that you aren't
getting with your current configuration.

Hi Patrick,

I too uninstalled IntelliPoint and now vertical scrolling works in OneNote.
Horizontal scrolling, however, still does not work -- and that's true across
all apps. That's not as big a deal for me, but it's worth mentioning.
Something's still off somewhere...

FYI: I'm using a Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0.

Thanks!

Mark

You might be able to get it to work by reinstalling IntelliPoint and
switching off Universal Scrolling.
I don't think that the standard mouse drivers coming with Windows
support horizontal scrolling.

I have tried installing, removing, rebooting, begging, and pleading
with Intellipoint. The mouse wheel on my Microsoft mouse (notebook
optical 4000, usb) doesn't work properly in Microsoft applications
like IE7, Access, and OneNote in Microsoft Vista.

I live in OneNote and IE, so it is particularly irritating.

At the moment, I have intellipoint uninstalled and still have the
issues. The mouse is set to 11 lines in control panel-->mouse, but I
get 1/2 line if any in IE7, and OneNote will scroll veritally *only*
if I scroll vigorously. A normal scroll does nothing, regardless of
how many times I scroll.

Any suggestions?

Universall Scroll is off?
I don't have any Microsoft mouse (I am completely on Logitech), so I
can't really give you any better suggestions.
