Mousing Over Thumbnails to Change a Separate Image

I'm setting up a photography site where mousing over thumbnails changes the
main image according to the thumbnail selected. I found a way to do a
"rollover trigger," which is pretty much what I'm looking for, by altering
FP's HTML. Here's a link to the relatively simple process, at the bottom of

The only problem is, the new "swapped" main image takes on the dimensions of
the previous "original" image. I.e., my original image is wider than it is
tall (landscape), my new image is taller (portrait) but becomes distorted
into landscape shape when it appears. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks
a lot.

I'd make all my images the same size if possible, with transparent or
background-matching extra space where needed.
