Move BCM 07 data fil,.e

Using Outlook Ent 07 with BCM...

How do you move the data (mdf) and log (ldf) to a different location on a
stand alone laptop's hard disk?

I just lost a lot of data because the Outlool Contact file is stored in a
file structure that is that backed up regularly, but the BCM data file is
stored who knows where but not in the file structure that is regularly backed
up. I need to move it to be backed up regularly.

Thanks
Bob

Bob:

Go here and download the SQL Server Management Studio for Express:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/bb410792.aspx

This will allow you to Detach your existing BCM database, copy the MDF and
LDF files to another location, and then Attach the database again.

HTH,
Lon

In outlook 07 with bcm, File, Datafile management, it shows:

Busienss Contact Manager: BOB_LAPTOP_D820:MSBusinessContactManager.mdf

However, if I do a serach of the stand alone laptop for
MSBusinessContactManager.mdf, it does not find that file

in SQL Server Management Studio Express, it shows two instances
MicrosoftSmallBiz that does connect (and another instance that I use for an
internal prgram).

Needless to say, I am confused.

Question 1) what is the default location of BCM .mdf and log files?
Question 2) what is the defualt SQL instance used by BCM?
Question 3) Assuming I get past 1 and 2, how do I detach and re-attach the
data/log files for BCM after moving them?

Thanks
Bob

The BCM database is typically in this directory:
Xp: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager
Vista: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Business Contact
Manager

Instance: MSSMLBIZ

SQL Server Studio is probably your best bet for detach and attach,
although to back up the file you can just stop the sql service until
the backup is done.
