Move configuration from pilot to production

Jonathan Vardy

Hi,

Were nearing the end of the pilot fase in our EPM project and now I'm
looking at ways to transfer our configuration to the production environment.
The things I'd like to transfer are:

- Setting, fields, codes, calendars in the Enterprise Global Template
- Views
- Security categories and groups

I know I can backup the Enterprise Global Template but is it smart to then
restore this in the production environment?

As far as I can see there are no methods to migrate Views, groups and
security categories.

I've searched the newsgroups but couldn't find anything other that a
complete backup restore of the Project Server database. Ã'd rather not do
this as I'd like to keep the production environment clean. I'm not looking to
move the resources as these will be synchronised through the AD.

Any tips and methods regarding the above be appreciated.

Thanks, Jonathan

I don't know about the link that Ray sent you but the way that I have done
this is in SQL I just do a "backup" of all the tables and then immediately do
a "restore" to the new instance. This moves everything across. Of course,
the new instance has to be empty and/or have nothing of value in it.
