Move Folders to Flash Drive

Is it possible to copy the personal files from Outlook to an outside storage
unit. I would like to keep my sent and deleted files but would like to
remove them from my personal files and onto a stick.

This is an email from a VP who is not great with computers. I realize you
could export to a .pst, but he wants to pull these emails up on another
computer and he isn't familiar with pulling in a .pst file. So, I'm looking
for an easier way. One that would be similar to saving an individual email
as a .msg file but he can't save 11,000 emails individually each day.

Any ideas would be helpful!

Yes you can, File----Data File Managment------Open Folder, then close outlook
and copy the PST file to your flash

I'll start by saying that it is unwise to store things you want to keep in the
Deleted Items folder. You're asking for trouble. Create another folder and
store them there. Use Deleted Items only for those things you truly do not
wish to keep.

Insert the memory stick and let Windows create a drive letter for it. Then,
in Outlook, click File>New>Outlook Data File. Browse to the memory stick
drive and create the new PST there. When the creation process is complete,
the new folder set will show in your Navigation Pane. Use the Folder List
view. Select one of the folders you want to keep on the stick and click
Edit>Copy to Folder. Specify the root of the PST on the stick as the
destination.

Once you have copied all the folders you wish, right-click the root of the new
PST and choose Close. It will be removed from the Folder List. Close Outlook
and you can then undock the stick. Whenever you want to reference that data,
insert the stick and, in Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browsing
to the PST on the stick. Always remember to close the PST and Outlook before
undocking the stick.
