Move Inbox folders to new location

Has anyone moved subfolders from within their Inbox to a new location
on a network? We have recently set limits on our mailboxes causing
several staff members to exceed this limit due to the number of
messages that they have saved in their Inbox. It appears that most
staff have been using Outlook as a place to store all their files. I
am now looking for a quick way to move these folders to their network
drives. Does anyeone have a suggestion? Using a PST is NOT an option
in this case.

Files or Outlook items?

Note that most of the space is taken up by attachments. Storing them out of
Outlook will most likely solve your issues. For additional clean up tips

For the most part we are dealing with sub folders within the Inbox that
contain e-mails. Some with attachments some just the messages.
Unfortunately nobody has time to go back thru the folders and save off
each attachment seperately, and in some cases they require the message
that goes with the attachement to be kept together. The issues here is
the number of messages we are dealing with. For example some users
have over 1GB of information that needs to be moved from folders within
their InBox that need to go to a network drive.

There are tools available to help with that. See

The article also points to a tool that can do this for you and adds links to
the attachment in the message. It even has an option to reverse it.
