Move PWA site to another Web Application

Hello,

(We have a Project Office 2007 installation attached to an existing
Moss 2007 farm)

Is there a way to move the PWA site to another Web Application in the
same farm?

I have http://webapp1/pwa and I would like to move it to http://webapp2/pwa.
I just want to change the URL.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Chris

assuming the webapps are under the same SSP, you could use

stsadm –o export –url <url> -filename <filename>
stsadm –o import –url <url> -filename <filename>

you'll then have to relink projects to the new site URLs.

Yes the Web Applications are under the same SSP.
I'm new to Project Office Server 2007... What do you mean by relink
projects to the new site URL? Where/how would you do that?

Thanks!

Thanks Paul. And what about the "Manage Project Web Access" page in
the SSP? Currently I see the original web app (http://webapp1/pwa)
with the status "Provisioned". If I do the Export/Import procedure,
will it automatically change the web app from http://webapp1/pwa to
http://webapp2/pwa?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris.

I mis-read your original post. I was thinking you wanted to only move the
WSS sites.

To move the instance of PWA, simply delete the instance in the existing SSP
and recreate using the new web app.  When provisioning the new PWA instance,
point to the previous PWA databases.

Paul,

If we recreated a new PWA site on a new Web Application, wouldn't we
lose customization done on the original PWA site? I have checked the
PWA site and there are around 50 sub sites to this site (These are
project workspace I guess). I don't think these subsites will exist
in the new PWA site (created in a new Sharepoint content database).
I'm I right?

Could we backup them and restore them in the new PWA site?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi,

Have you completed this move ? I was working on the same target for a week
but still in process. Just want to communicate with you guys.
Do you know how to backup those workspace subsites and relink them to new
PWA ?

Thanks
Teddy

I've got it works, should be 5 steps
1. Export all workspaces
2. Delete Old PWA instance from Old SSP
3. Create new PWA on new SSP
4. Import workspaces
5. Reconnect workspaces
