I have recently Implemented a SAN and would like to change the location of
the data and log files for project server 2003. The old database is on a
raid enclosure on two different logical drives, data on one, logs on the
other. The database will still be located on the same SQL server. I
followed these steps:
backed up original database
deleted original database
created a new database with enterprise manager (with the new location for
log and data on the SAN)
restored the old database to the new database
I then checked the logical drives on the SAN and their size had not grown.
The files had reverted back to the original location? I moved 3 other
databases like this and they all worked fine. Is there something in the
database itself that tells sql to do this?
Anyway, my question is - What is the bast way to move Log and Data file
locations.

Me either, Although I thank you very much for your reply. Long story short,
another problem (cannot insert new resources into enterprise resource pool) I
was working with microsoft on is unable to be fixed, so i have to toast the
database and start over. Now I will be able to do that in the beginning. by
the way, I ordered the two books on your website and look forward to reading
them soon. If you know of any custom developers that are good, please send
them my way. I am basically looking for a "pocket project" program that will
allow field personel to sync data over the internet through a PocketPC. I am
just starting the development of this application myself and have another
company bidding it as well. Thanks again.

Stephen:

We have custom developers that are good, that's why we keep them on our
staff.<g> If you're looking for another bid, send us your specs. Have you
looked at buy v. build? One of the companion product manufacturers may
already have built this.
