Moved Business Contact Mngr Files but They Will Not Load

Recently my laptop stopped working and I had to get a new laptop. I
re-installed Office 07 Professional with Business Contact Manager on the new
computer and moved all my data files over.

The problem is when I open Business Contact Manager on the new computer it
will not load the business contact manager database. I can see the .mdf and
..ldf files but the BCM wizard will not let me select them.

I also tried to start Outlook off the old hard drive but is seems to still
load some of settings on the new laptop.

I've looked all over for self-help and could not find any. I know the
problem has something to do with the SQL server but I am not an IT person and
really don't know what to do. Can you please help me figure out how to open
my business contact manager files on the new computer? I'm at my wits end!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Is the MDF file in this (Vista) folder C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local
\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager?

If so BCM should display it as available when you select a database.

Can you create a new BCM database?

I have the exact same problem as you. In my research it seems if you create a new login or new password it some how confused SQLServer. Have you found a solution, if so can you please post it or email.

If you create a new login, then it will be different and won't have
permission to access the databases created with the previous login.

I also suspect that the folder permissions that setup set won't be set
for the new user. I assume that when BCM detects that, it'll update
those folder permissions, but maybe not.

You could try reinstalling BCM with the new login.

It does seem to be an issue with the sql server or the ability to login to
the database.
If you follow the following steps you should be able to access business
contacts.

Windows XP

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Performance and Maintenance.
Click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Services.
Right-click SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ), and then click Properties.
Click the Log On tab, and then click Local System account.
Stop and restart the MSSMLBIZ Process
Restart Outlook and you should be able to access contacts.

Windows Vista

Click the Start button, and then click All Programs.
Click Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then
click SQL Server Configuration Manager.
In the SQL Server Configuration Manager window, click SQL Server 2005
Services.
In the right pane, right-click SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ), and then click
Properties.
On the Log On tab, under Built-in account, click the arrow, and then click
Local System.

My user has XP and it worked for me.
