Hello all,
I just inherited maintenance of a website that was forced to change
servers because their old host was bought out by Interland. However,
in moving the site over I had to relocate their Access databases and
of course create new DSNs for them. Once that was complete everything
works fine EXCEPT for one mdb file that is actually using security on
it. I've been able to get in contact with the original developer of
the solution and actually have most of the security information
(although I'm still not able to log in as the super user), but it
seems to me the problem doesn't necessarily reside with my being able
to access the files myself, but rather the website accessing it.
I mean, why would it matter to the database whether it resides on one
server in a certain hierarchy or a different one, as long as its mdw
file was with it and the DSN is setup correctly? Is there some method
of telling the mdb file where the mdw file lives?
I've been learning A LOT about Access security over the past day or so
(I'm a SQL developer myself), but the majority of it is in regard to
Application development and not web development.
Please help me out - my client is losing business... Thanks in
advance.
