movie file created on a Mac won't play on PC

I created a Powerpoint presentation using Office for MAC (2008); everything works fine but the movie files won't play on a PC. I first used AVI files and got the error message "QuickTime and a DV/DVCPRO -
NTSC decompressor are needed to see this picture."

I tried MPEG1 and got a similar message. MPEG4 looks horrible!

Any suggestions???

Hi,

When you export the QuickTime file to AVI in QuickTime click the Options
button. Uncheck the setting that causes QuickTime to compress the AVI
file. AVI files that are not compressed will play on the PC.

For some reason during an update that checkbox got turned on by default.
I'm sure whether or not it was deliberate to turn that on, but turn
compression off and everything will be fine.

Hi

Even more specifically - sound should not be compressed when exporting
from QuickTime

Lost me on that one ... wouldn't an NTSC decompressor be unrelated to sound?

(not to suggest that sound compression shouldn't be avoided as well ...)

Hi,

All I know is that if I leave the checkmark to compress audio when I
export to AVU in QuickTime Pro the resulting file won't play in Windows.
Uncheck the setting and then the file plays.

Got it ... I'll make that amendment. Thanks, Jim.
