movie object error message

I have .avi files which play fine in Windows Media Player. However, when I
insert them in PowerPoint (2003), they won't play, and I get a popup which is
titled "MCI error", with the message "There is no driver installed on your
system". I can't seem to find a solution to this in the help section. Any
suggestions would be much appreciated.

run your movies through the "plays for certain" powerpoint utility

then they will most likely play without any trouble

OR, convert the avi file to wmv which is always accepted by PowerPoint.
