movies ...speeds up and slows down at various times

Using windows xp with powerpoint 2002.

I've inserted a 5 min. movie (sized 320 x 240). Because
the slide is left with a lot of white space I have added
some still shots which appear and fade away throughout the
movie. This makes the monitor appear full with images
while the movie is playing. The movie sound is fine but
I've noticed the movie slows in speed and then speeds up
at various times. When I import this same movie into
moviemaker it plays fine...but when I copy this same movie
back to powerpoint...the movie plays with various
speeds...not constantly but enough for it to be a
distraction. Memory is not an issue as I have 28 GB. Hope
you can help.

Jeannie,

Sounds like you are asking too much of the machine. A quick test, open task
manager up and monitor CPU usage. I'm betting it's pegged at 100%. By the
way, you might also want to do a little house keeping on your hard drive.
Delete all temp files and then defrag. Also shut down all other apps
running in the background.
