Moving controls and their labels together

Hello,
In order to conserve space, I'd like to move a single row of controls and
their corresponding labels together to the left. I'd like for them to abut
each other. Is there a better way of doing this than to do it by hand?

In design view? You CAN select multiple controls by using shift, control, or by
"encircling them" with the mouse and move them all at once. Is that what you
are talking about?
