moving cursor around

Hi,

I use ctrl + arrows very often to move with agility within large word
documents (Word 2002).

I would like to move even faster, by going from specific letter to
specific letter.

Is there a way to do this? I imagine it would be a combination of keys
plus the specific letter. I.e. to move from "k" to "k" (say) I imagine
it's a combination of keys, plus "k".

The relevant section in the help files didn't have anything, so I fear
this facility may not exist. Any help appreciated.

No, it does not. But you could use Find/Replace for this. "Find"
whatever letter you're interested in. Now you can use Ctrl+PageDown to
jump to the next "found" instance, until you reach the end of the
document.

Hi Cindy,

Many thanks for your reply, even if it's in the negative (the
workaround can be useful, but I'm seeking extreme agility here).

In many ways when <ctrl>+arrows are used, Word is actually going from
one identical letter to the next, however, it's the same character
each time, the space. I'm of the opinion that being able to change
this hard coded character to one of one's choice could be very useful
indeed. So useful, in fact, that I'd be very surprised if it hasn't
been pointed out several times before. (searching for that type of
thing wasn't fruitful for me though).

Anyhow, I'm taking a longer look at VB to see if anything can be done
there. Incidentally the group you belong to mvps.org, have some
excellent material which is also helping me.

If you have any further comments, it would be greta to hear them.

Regards / Rafa.

Hi Rafa,

Well, I'd still build on Word's internal Find, as it ought to be faster
than working through the document, character-by-character.

Using VBA (or a VB COM Addin), you could, of course, make this more
transparent to the user. A key combination to a macro, for example,
that says "use this as the character to find" and stores it in a global
variable, and then another that executes the "Find".
